Growing up, Dr. Nolan Shaw’s passion for animals was inspired by his mother’s love of creatures. At the age of 13, his family moved from Brooklyn, NY to the Asheville area where his aunt operated a large horse facility. It was not long before he became drawn into a life of horses and decided he wanted to pursue a career in equine veterinary medicine. All that changed in veterinary school at NC State during his small animal emergency internship. The joy of treating small animals and working with pet owners stole his heart.
Dr. Shaw understands the fears and concerns pet owners face in emergency situations. He makes it his goal to treat the pet as if it were his own while working to guide pet owners through the visit. He is passionate about pulling on the strength of his team as they work together to help treat and provide best outcomes for their emergency patients.
In Dr. Shaw’s free time, he enjoys anything outdoors, but his favorite activities are running with his dogs, hiking, and horseback riding.
