Jendaya R. O’Grady, DVM

Jendaya O’Grady grew up in northern Virginia, where her father is an equine veterinarian. Around the age of 10, she started a beloved tradition of volunteer travel projects with her dad, serving communities of people who relied on animals for their livelihood. So, when it came time to choose a career path, she knew that veterinary medicine was where she wanted to be.

Having developed a fascination with ophthalmology in vet school, Dr. O’Grady pursued a rotating internship at Texas A&M. Although she enjoyed ophthalmology, it was while she rotated through another department as part of her internship that she truly found her niche: In emergency services, she felt like she was giving to people who needed her most.

Dr. O’Grady says the most important thing to know about her is that not only is she here for the animals, but she is here for their owners, too. She wants to be a comfort regardless of the situation, somebody whom people feel like they can lean on, not only for reliable information, but also a hand to hold throughout the process.

In her free time, she enjoys creating recipes, interior decorating, pottery, and pyrography. She and her partner Charlie live in Charlotte with their pet cat and pet snake.
