Matthew Thompson, DVM
Dr. Matthew Thompson grew up with pets – of which three golden retrievers, a myriad of cats and any reptile he could catch stand out. Being surrounded by animals throughout his childhood spurred a deep interest in biology at a young age, which continues to grow even today.
His passion for animals culminated into practicing small animal emergency medicine, which he began in 2002 right out of his internship. Of his career, Dr. Thompson says, “I love the fast pace and the diversity of cases encountered daily in ER medicine and strive to make patient care, client communication/education, and the practice of problem focused medicine my top priorities as a doctor.”
Not surprisingly, Dr. Thompson’s taste in pets seems to have changed very little, as he and his family have a dog, three cats and a snake. Outside of work and caring for his brood of pets, Dr. Thompson enjoys spending time with family, playing guitar, going to concerts, cooking, baking, traveling and shopping for greeting cards.
