To the public, Vet Techs at CARE perform tests, assist with surgeries, tend to furry patients, communicate with families, and so much more. They’re essentially nurses for our pets. Behind the scenes, many take on administrative roles such as managing schedules and maintaining inventory while supporting doctors and mentoring students. During the national Veterinary Technician Week 2022 which runs October 16 to 22, we celebrate these special people.

A Challenging and Critical Job

Being a Vet Tech is a challenging job, both emotionally and physically. CNN reported in 2021 that 35% of all vet techs eventually “burn out,” and half leave the profession within five years.

We at CARE Charlotte think our Vet Techs are superheroes. They’re critical to our excellence. While we are grateful every day of the year, we’re putting them in the spotlight this week.

Each day during Veterinary Technician Week 2022, we’ll introduce you to a Vet Tech for each service we provide to small animals in the Charlotte area. You’ll learn what makes them tick and how they stay healthy while helping your furry family members. While we’re showcasing a handful of our employees, they’re just a few of the incredible members of our Vet Tech team.

Some common threads among their stories include:

  • A genuine dedication to providing the best care possible
  • A love of animals and learning
  • Seemingly never-ending empathy
  • The ability to get away through hiking, reading, cooking, and laughing

Special Thanks During Veterinary Technician Week 2022

We’re excited to celebrate our Vet Techs on their special week. But we’re thankful for them all year round! Next time you’re here, please take a moment to thank our Vet Techs!
